Fall is here, and I couldn’t be more excited! There’s something magical about cozy sweaters, the crisp air, and sipping on a hot mocha while watching the leaves change color. This time of year makes me feel so refreshed, but with all the fall vibes also comes a change in how I care for my hair and scalp.
Recently, I tried our new Mint Condition Detox Hair Treatment for the perfect deep cleanse to nourish my scalp for the chilly days ahead. Read on to discover how this treatment left my hair and scalp ready to take on sweater weather without the dreaded dryness!
How Fall Weather Affects Your Hair
As temperatures drop and the air becomes drier, your scalp can lose moisture, leading to dryness, flakiness and even irritation. Because of the lack of humidity, your hair can also become more brittle and prone to breakage and frizziness.
Dry air in colder months increases the static in your hair too, especially while you’re wearing hats and scarves. Because you’re touching or brushing your hair more to smooth down this frizziness, your hair and scalp can become oilier as well.
Adjusting your hair care routine in the fall with more hydrating and nourishing products can help balance moisture levels, prevent damage and keep your hair and scalp healthy as the season changes.
Our New Mint Condition Detox Treatment
I scheduled my Mint Condition Detox Treatment with our stylist, Hannah, who joined our TM family in July. We started off in our shampoo spa where Hannah mixed together Davines’ Elevating Clay Supercleanser and Detoxifying Scrub Cleanser and brushed it through my hair and scalp.
If your favorite part of visiting Tyler Mason for your hair appointments is the scalp massage, you’re in for a treat — this hair treatment includes not one, but two incredibly relaxing head massages! As Hannah massaged the purifying mixture into my scalp, it left my scalp feeling refreshed as it removed impurities, like product buildup from my dry shampoo and minerals from my home’s hard water.
I recently colored my hair with Lexi in August to go brunette for autumn. If you color your hair too, don’t worry — this detoxifying shampoo won’t fade your hair color. In fact, it felt like the perfect reset to give my scalp a fresh start for fall without compromising the richness of my new hair color.
If you’ve spent the summer poolside, this treatment’s gentle cleansers could be a great refresh for you as well as they detox your hair and scalp from chlorine buildup. These cleansers also remove dirt, pollutants (like smoke from those summer bonfires!) and dead skin cells that can cling to your hair and scalp. These impurities can clog hair follicles, leading to irritation or dandruff, making this treatment the perfect way to prep your scalp for the new season.
During my appointment, I mentioned to Hannah that even though I double cleanse my hair, I struggle with my hair looking oily. Because I have fine hair, I have more hair follicles and oil glands on my scalp compared to those with thicker hair. Even one day after washing, I reach for my dry shampoo and pull my hair back to keep my stringy strands from falling into my face.
Based on this, Hannah used Davines’ Rebalancing Shampoo, a soothing formula designed to combat excess sebum production without stripping my hair of its natural moisture. To ensure my hair stayed hydrated after these three cleansers, Hannah followed up Davines’ lightweight Momo Conditioner, massaging my scalp again.
After the treatment, Hannah brought me back to her chair to style my hair. She sprayed on my scalp Davines’ Energizing Thickening Tonic, which increases your hair fiber’s diameter for a fuller look. As Hannah blow dried my hair, I got to hear all about her upcoming trip with her sisters at the end of October to Salem, Massachusetts, where they’ll explore its rich witchy history — the perfect autumn adventure!
The warmth from the blow dryer felt so comforting, especially since I’m always cold indoors. (My coworkers Mallorie and Melissa can vouch for me running my space heater under my desk even in the summer while wearing my oversized sweater that could double as a blanket.) So, I felt very warm and cozy as Hannah finished styling my hair with beautiful curls.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my Mint Condition Detox Treatment! The combination of cleansing and moisturizing products was just what my fine hair needed, leaving it soft and revitalized. The day after my appointment, I even noticed that my hair didn’t look and feel as greasy as it typically does the day after washing, which is a huge win for me! I would absolutely get this hair treatment again — maybe in November, so I can catch up with Hannah about her fall trip and see how her witchy adventures went!
My At-Home Fall Scalp and Hair Care Routine
To continue caring for my hair this autumn after my Mint Condition Detox Hair Treatment, I use my Davines Minu Shampoo and Conditioner to protect my hair color from fading. I love how this shampoo’s rich foam gently cleanses my hair and how this conditioner detangles and hydrates my hair for a silky style.
Once a week, I switch out my Minu Shampoo for my Davines Solu Sea Salt Scrub Cleanser. It lathers into a creamy scrub that exfoliates and purifies my scalp from product buildup and impurities. I also notice how my hair feels lighter and cleaner for longer after using this cleanser.
After showering, I use my Davines Nourishing Keratin Sealer. This moisturizing leave-in spray helps me easily comb my longer hair while sealing its cuticles to prevent split ends. Then, before I blow dry and straighten my hair, I spritz my Davines Melu Hair Shield to protect my strands against my hot tools’ heat. I love how this anti-breakage heat protectant doesn’t leave my strands heavy or sticky, only sleek and shiny.
Want to get your hair fall-ready like mine? If your scalp could use a deep cleanse, indulge yourself in this clarifying and hydrating treatment. Book your appointment online and say goodbye to excess oil and product buildup for fresh, gorgeous hair, just in time for sweater weather!
